About Me

Hi! My name is Sara. I’m a Portuguese woman who’s made Scotland her home for over a decade now! Here I’ve met my husband and birthed our daughter, Luna. I’m a doula, serving Edinburgh and the Lothians (but happy to go further afield).

I am lucky to have many things that bring joy to my life, but my passion lies in the childbearing season of our lives (fertility, pregnancy, birth and postpartum). This passion led me to developing my work and practice as a doula.

I’ve trained as a birth doula with Kate Woods from Conscious Birthing, under their Doula UK and European Doula Network accredited course, and I’m also a member and mentor of the Scottish Doula Network and Doulas Without Borders. I’ve been trained in biomechanics for birth, Trauma Informed birth support, bereavement informed care, and in postnatal support.

I’m registered with the Disclosure Scotland PVG Scheme, and I’m trained in Baby & Child First Aid.

I am also a member of the NHS Lothian Maternity Voices Partnership, adding to the discussions on how to keep improving women’s and birthing parents’ experiences and care.

I’m here to support you and your family through this beautiful and tender time. I have a deep belief in your power as a mother, parent and birthing person to confidently give birth to your baby, and a deep care for parents-to-be and new parents. You might be feeling a little overwhelmed, like you have storm of questions in your head, and/or super excited about what’s to come – I’ll be here to navigate all that with you!

I see my role as that of service and support to pregnant and birthing people, and their families. I do this by providing care, a listening year, sharing knowledge and information and by offering an open, non-judgemental mind and heart, as you prepare for giving birth, and as you get to know your new baby.

I also know that no two people are the same and neither are their births – and this is a good thing! It means we’ll have lots of fun making this journey yours.

I look forward to meeting you and being by your side during your pre-conception, pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
